Kathleen Walkup’s presentation on European artists’ books will be at Mrs. Dalloway’s Books (www.mrsdalloways.com) in Berkeley, California, on September 12, 4 pm.

Kathleen Walkup, Professor and Book Art Program Head at Mills College, will present and discuss the European artists’ books she purchased during her recent trip to London. The books will be for sale after the presentation, as well as other European artists’ books from Another Room Book Arts. Mrs. Dalloway’s Books also sells “book art object,” a survey of book arts books throughout the world, published by the CODEX Foundation. Mrs. Dalloway’s Books is located at 2904 College Ave, one block north of Ashby Ave., in Berkeley, California. In Chicago, there is the Joan Flasch Artists’ Books Collection at the School of the Art Institute, 37 S. Wabash. Thousands of books and multiples that can be handled.

Also, Vespine Gallery, an artist-run space at 1907 S. Halsted, regularly (though not exclusively) features artists’ books, prints and broadsides.

We have one of the Karpeles Museums in Charleston and the exhibits are

wonderful! Currently here is the Florence Nightingale letters, reports,

documents – she had a beautiful handwriting. These museums are a

treasure. All of the exhibits are fascinating – the last one here was

on stereoscope pictures and you could borrow the glasses and look

at the old photos of presidents, famous people, houses, etc.

Go visit one! It is hard to find a better free resource!
